It's Never Too Late: Pursuing Your Wildest Ambitions

Have you ever felt that nagging sensation? You know, the one that whispers, "Is it too late to chase that wild dream of yours? (You know the dream.)" Well, I'm here to tell you that it's never too late to pursue your passions, no matter how crazy they might seem.

At 56, with my husband at 58, we're on a journey that some might call insane. We're building Idyllwild Woods Retreat Center from the ground up. It's physical, it's unconventional, and yes, it's risky. But you know what? It's also incredibly exciting.

Embracing the "Crazy" Dream

When I first shared our plans with friends, colleagues, and investors, I was amazed by the responses. Almost everyone said something along the lines of, "What a fantastic dream! Please build this place!"

We all have that one aspiration tucked away, often deemed too outlandish to pursue. We watch as the calendar pages flip like the pages of a novel. Time whooshes by faster and faster as we age, reminding us that we're only here for a brief time.

But here's the thing - starting today is better than waiting another decade. As the saying goes, you don't want to be on your deathbed wondering, "What if?"

The Richest Place on Earth is Full of “What Ifs”

There's a powerful quote by Les Brown that always strikes a chord with me:

"The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream."

This quote serves as a reminder that our dreams are meant to be pursued, not buried.

Your Dream is Calling - Will You Answer?

Now, I have a question for you. Is there a dream you've been keeping on the back burner? Perhaps it seems too outlandish to pursue. Maybe the people in your life haven't been supportive. Or maybe that little voice in your head - the one that's trying to protect you from change - has been loud enough to keep you from going for it.

Let me tell you, life is too short to ignore those dreams. There are so many amazing opportunities, adventures, and experiences out there. It's impossible to have them all, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to grab the ones that speak to our hearts.

Finding Inspiration in Others

I've found myself drawn to people who are going for their dreams, regardless of their age. It's why I love interviewing and working with founders so much. Their courage and determination are contagious.
