Happy Friday! Got fun plans for the weekend? Maybe OUTDOORS plans?!

We’ve had a few really nice warm and sunny days here at Idyllwild Woods this week, and it felt great playing in the dirt a little. Clearing out part of the terrace garden to plant a huge sunflower forest. Ahhhhhh, spring is coming.

One other update from the Woods…

We’re putting together a list of coaches who might like to host a retreat here sometime. Just soft commitments - no obligation. But those on this list will get first dibs when we’re able to host groups. Plus, since you’re catching us early in the process, we just might be able to add extra amenities that you’d love your people to have during your retreat.

And now… meet Emily Reuschel. I really enjoyed our conversation and think you will, too.

Building a Joyful Life: A Blueprint for Rural Entrepreneurs

Emily's journey began in a tiny Illinois town. Population: 42. She had it all - the marriage, the kids, the career. Boxes checked. Dreams fulfilled.

Or so she thought.

"Why do I feel dead inside?" she wondered.

Cue the existential crisis.

But Emily didn't wallow. She ran. Literally. Those sunset runs became her sanctuary, her think tank, her business incubator. One evening, mid-stride, inspiration struck. A month's worth of content ideas. Just like that.

The Great Outdoors: Nature's Boardroom

Emily's not your typical entrepreneur. No stuffy office. No power suits. Her business meetings? They happen on dirt roads.

"It's almost daily," she explains. "After the kids are on the bus, I walk our rural back roads. That's my time."

Time well spent, it seems. Emily's unconventional approach led to a thriving business helping rural women embrace their authenticity. Ironic? Perhaps. Effective? Absolutely.

Ditching the Robot Routine

Emily's mission evolved. From helping women take care of themselves physically to a deeper exploration of authenticity in business.

"We've been taught to operate as robots," she points out. "Unhealthy for people in general, but especially women."

Her solution? Aligning business practices with natural cycles. Menstrual cycles. Human design. Hormonal fluctuations. It's not your typical MBA curriculum. But it works.

The Power of Rural Connection

In an age of digital isolation, Emily's creating real community. Think less #blessed, more actual blessings.

"There's this really deep healing that happens when women come together," she reflects. "Even if they think it's going to be steps 1 through 10 on growing their business."

Through masterminds, retreats, and coaching, Emily's recreating the togetherness women have shared throughout history. Just with better Wi-Fi.

Embracing the Uncomfortable

Emily's journey hasn't been all sunset runs and breakthrough moments. She's faced her fair share of challenges, particularly when expanding her business into new territories.

"When you've had success in one area, expanding into the next can be a really beautiful and uncomfortable season of realigning," Emily shares. "It's a blessing. It means that I'm giving myself permission to expand, but it is uncomfortable, as expansion always is."

This willingness to embrace discomfort has been key to Emily's growth, both personally and professionally.

The COVID Catalyst

Like many entrepreneurs, the COVID-19 pandemic brought unexpected changes to Emily's business. But it also sparked a revelation.

"During the height of COVID, everyone's in Facebook groups and sharing online," Emily recalls. "I'm following all these farm women who are making me feel so seen and understood, and I'm getting connected to all these personal growth kind of things. But I realized there is no one talking about the intersection of these two."

This realization led to Emily's "why not me?" moment, driving her to create content that bridged the gap between rural living and personal development.

Universal Truths in Unlikely Places

As Emily's work has evolved, she's discovered a profound truth: we're all more alike than we are different.

"Whether you live in a cornfield or in a high rise, those feelings of 'What am I even doing here? Does anyone really see me? Am I living in authenticity? How do I find my purpose in the world? And also, like, buy groceries?' - all of that is universal," Emily explains.

This insight has allowed her to connect with and impact a diverse range of clients, all seeking authenticity and purpose in their lives and businesses.

Your Turn to Evolve

Emily's story isn't just about one woman's success. It's about a movement. A rural renaissance.

She's proving that you don't need a Silicon Valley address to innovate. That authenticity can be your greatest asset. That sometimes, the best business strategy is a good pair of running shoes and an open road.

Feeling inspired? Trapped? Both?

Emily's journey is a reminder that your greatest asset in business is your authentic self. That true success comes from aligning your work with your values and natural rhythms.

So, what's your next step? A daily walk? A business pivot? A moment of brutal honesty with yourself?

Whatever it is, remember Emily's words: "Life's a mind game. Be a winner."
